Description
The Volcano
Poás Volcano is known for its massive crater, which is one of the largest in the world. Measuring approximately 1.5 kilometers (nearly one mile) in diameter and 300 meters (around 1,000 feet) deep, the crater is a breathtaking sight. On clear days, visitors can see the turquoise-colored acidic lake that lies at the bottom, often emitting steam and gas plumes that add to the dramatic landscape.
